The challenge and our vision

The use of power electronics demands the efficient dissipation of heat loss inside the enclosure, creating a need for innovative climate control concepts. This is particularly true in cases where high-performance components such as frequency converters or servo-controllers are used in environments with damp, dirty and aggressive conditions. Rittal set itself the challenge of devising a standardised solution which would coordinate the various mechanical and climate control interfaces and facilitate safe industrial use.

The solution

The fascinating outcome is the RITTAL Direct Cooling Package (DCP). Power electronics are installed on a fluid-cooled mounting plate, which is readily incorporated into sealed recooling systems or the existing water infrastructure. With complete installation safety, heat losses of up to 6 kW are dissipated silently while maintaining a constant enclosure internal temperature, with no impairment to the high protection category.

Recognition

We are not alone in our excitement at having created such a high cooling output in the smallest possible space – our customers are equally impressed. The Direct Cooling Package was ranked no. 1 in the category "Electro-mechanics and power engineering" by the well-known journal A&D (Automation & Drives) in its Best Product Guide 2005.
